What to expect:
After a pick-up from selected hotels, you’ll head to Corcovado Hill to see Brazil’s greatest national icon – the Christ the Redeemer statue of Rio de Janeiro.
On the way, you’ll see Copacabana beach, pass in front of Botafogo Soccer Club, see the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, take a look at the Guanabara Palace, view the official residence of the State’s Governor, see the Fluminense Soccer Club, and view the São Judas Tadeu Church.
Next, go through the Tijuca Forest, which is 3.5% of the city of Rio de Janeiro and the biggest urban forest in the world, then stop at Paineiras to board the vehicles of the National Park Authority. The visit to the monument lasts around 45 minutes. On the way back, those who haven’t chosen the half-day or the full-day tour will be driven back to the pick-up point.
For those who chose the half or full-day tour, be prepared to take the famous cable car and be mesmerized on the way up to Urca Hill, your first stop. You will see the city from a different and incredible point of view. After that, you will take the cable car again to Sugar Loaf Hill where you’ll have 30 minutes to enjoy the jaw-dropping view. After, those who picked the half-day tour will be taken back to the pick-up point and those who opted for the full-day will be driven to General Osório Square in Ipanema for a lunch break.
After lunch, you’ll be driven around Maracanã Stadium taking a quick stop at the Bellini statue in front of the main entrance. On the way to the Sambadrome, get ready to see where the magic happens every year. You’ll see where the biggest carnival parade happens, try on some typical costumes and even try to dance some samba, Rio’s main dance and musical style. Your next stop is the St. Benedict Monastery, which was the first one to be built in the city, and it’s baroque-style church is covered in carved wood gold-leafed sculptures. Moving forward to the next visiting point, be able to see a completely different and modern church, the opposite of the classical St. Benedict: the Metropolitan Cathedral. At the end of this wonderful day, finish your visit at Selarón staircase, which is located in Lapa, Rio’s bohemian heart. This special staircase was covered in colorful tiles from all around the globe by the Chilean artist Selarón, and it has starred in many music videos such as “Beautiful” by Snoop Dog and Pharrel Williams in 2002.
